The first Emerging Leaders
Institute was held June 20-24, 2007. The four-day
intensive training opportunity, hosted at Butler
University (Indianapolis, Ind.), was facilitated by trained
Alpha Phi facilitators. This interactive learning
experience included large and small group
discussions, trust building activities and personal
reflection.
Fifty emerging leaders
were selected
to attend the Institute and received a full scholarship
funded by the Alpha Phi Foundation that included
all travel, lodging and meals at the Institute. These freshman and
sophomore women showed great
potential as leaders!

ELI Highlights
Emerging Leaders Institute Learning Outcomes
Participants:
Debated and applied the Alpha Phi values of
leadership/service, sisterhood/loyalty,
intellectual development and character
development. Through this process they learned how to lead with authenticity,
integrity and confidence.
Practiced their leadership skills so
they may serve as effective students, leaders,
and citizens within their communities. They framed leadership as an inherently relational
process of working together to accomplish a
goal or to promote change.
Built a strong community of support
for their personal self and learn how to create
a team committed to common goals.
Strengthened effective communication skills
so they may create healthy relationships with
others.
Learned to lead a healthier and more values-grounded
life in college and throughout life.
