President's Message

Letter from our President

Dear Parents ,

Welcome to the Alpha Phi family! Just as your daughter has found a family away from home at college, that family has found you. We are pleased to welcome your daughter into our sisterhood and can promise that the next few years of her life will be full of growth, curiosity and fun.

Alpha Phi began at Syracuse University in 1872 by the first women to enter that university. They found that the men enjoyed camaraderie and friendships as members of all-male fraternities, and they also wanted that feeling of belonging and support. To meet that need, they founded Alpha Phi and dreamt from the beginning to be an organization that called many campuses home to innovators like themselves. Today, Alpha Phi calls 143 institutions across North America home.

Our members today continue to be innovators through their academics, involvement on campus and contributions to their communities. Alpha Phi is rooted in the ideals of sisterhood, scholarship and service. These three virtues bind us together to improve ourselves and those around us. The college years are ones of change and exploration. We are confident that Alpha Phis conclude their collegiate experience prepared both professionally and personally.

The Alpha Phi experience does not end at graduation; it is only just beginning. The opportunities for friendship, leadership and events continue as an alumna through involvement in local philanthropies, alumnae chapters and service as a volunteer. Alpha Phi is a network of support found across the world.

Again, welcome to our family! We are thrilled that your daughter has selected Alpha Phi as her sorority. We invite you to explore our Web site to learn more about Alpha Phi and the history your daughter is now a part of along with nearly 160,000 other women.
