Delta Delta Boasts Two 2008 Miss Oklahomas

Congratulations to Kelsey Cartwright (Delta Delta-Oklahoma City), who was crowned Miss Oklahoma 2008 in June, and Ashton Joseph (Delta Delta-Oklahoma City), who was crowned Miss Black Oklahoma 2008 in July. A sophomore honor role student, Kelsey performed a lyrical dance during the talent aspect of the pageant and took away a $16,000 scholarship. Kelsey will compete for the Miss America title in January. For more information, visit www.missoklahoma.org.

Just months earlier, Ashton had been diagnosed with and undergone surgery for cervical cancer. Her platform during the state pageant was titled “Beating the O.D.D.S.”, the acronym standing for Ashton’s drive and                Kelsey Cartwright

she sought to educate women about the truth
of cervical cancer and dispel the myth of shame surrounding it.
